buildOn Gala 2023

My Key Responsibilities:

Event Co-Director

From Run of Show to script, decor, activations, catering selection, talent coordination, budget, and much more, I managed the direction of buildOn’s largest annual fundraiser.

Speaker Support

I interviewed our alumni speaker, helped him build an outline, copy edited his script, and helped him prep.

Talent Wrangler

I identified our event talent (Samantha “Just Sam” Diaz: 2020 American Idol winner), worked with her management team, coordinated a pre-Gala volunteer service event that she attended, and worked with her during the Gala, attending to any needs she and her team had.

Public Relations

I wrote the press releases for the event and hosted The Washington Post who covered our talent’s involvement in the Gala (read article here).

Copy Lead

I worked directly with our Senior Graphic Designer to create the signage and activations for the event. I also wrote the script for a dynamic virtual reality experience featuring buildOn’s Trek program where volunteers fundraise and travel to economically developing countries to build schools.
